The curb appeal of your home is your home’s first impression.  And the star of any curb appeal show is the front entry, which is a really great thing because it doesn’t take much time or money to give your front entry a makeover.  Simply changing the door color and updating the hardware can totally transform the whole look of your home and is an easy update you can make in one afternoon!

From Black to Pink

I loved our new house from the first moment I saw it, but truth be told, I wasn’t super crazy about the green color.  Green just isn’t one of my personal favorite colors, but having a house completely repainted can be really expensive.  In addition, paying to have it repainted before it actually needs to be repainted seems like kind of a waste of money.  I decided instead, as one of my very first home projects to tackle after moving in, to repaint the front door.  And what color is more fun to pair with green than pink?!

Changing the door color was an easy, inexpensive project that totally transformed the look of our home!  The pink is just so fun and happy!  I love this color combination so much that I’m not sure I would ever want to change the color of our house now.  It’s truly amazing how powerful a front door color change can be for the curb appeal of a house!

An Easy Hardware Change

The color change made a huge visual impact, but the cherry on top was switching out the old stainless steel handleset for something a bit more modern yet totally classic.  Last summer thanks to Schlage I replaced the old handleset for this gorgeous clean lined beauty in an antique brass finish.  This simple hardware change took less than an hour, and I absolutely love the way this gold finish looks against the soft pink color of the door.

  • Love everything about it – except for the baby pink. Sorry! It’s just not my taste, but I must say the overall curb appeal is very warm and inviting. I’d love to come sit on your porch any day. Beautiful home!

  • No need to apologize Tracy….to each their own! If we all liked the same colors life, and design specifically, would be so boring! 🙂 Pink isn’t for everyone, but I love it; especially paired with green!

  • Oh my goodness! Love the pink! Quick question when you switch out your hardware, did you switch out your hinges too?

  • Thanks Cheryl! Nope, left the hinges – the hardware on the inside of the door is pewter which is what the hinges are.

  • So love your house! The color combo is perfect. I love how color can change the whole feel of a house/room instantly.

  • Crazy about that PINK!!!! If I did that to my front door, my husband would faint….so brave of you. Love it!!!!:)

  • My husband doesn’t mind a soft blush like pink. He’s not a fan of hot pink though. 😉 Pastel colors on the exterior of your home isn’t a huge shocker here in the Charleston area, so it’s a littler easier to get a way with here.
