Hey friends! Today I’m participating in Marty’s Annual Spring House Tour, so I’d like to extend a big welcome to all the new visitors here that might be popping over from Seeking Lavender Lane! I’m Carmel, and I live in Charleston, South Carolina. I started this little blog about my diy decorating adventures a few years back when we lived in Lexington, KY in our fifth house, hence the blog name. However, we’re now in our sixth house and couldn’t be more thrilled to call the lowcountry home.
Spring is definitely in the air……or is that the pollen? 😉
My spring interior style is pretty simple. I don’t do much in the way of Easter decor, but I do love to bring the outdoors in by way of fresh flowers, clippings from the yard and all the house plants (preferably those that thrive on neglect). Virtual house tours are totally my jam, so I won’t do too much talking and ruin your experience. 😉 Grab a cup or glass of your favorite beverage and come on in!
If I were forced to describe my decor style in one word it would probably be – eclectic. I love a good mix of old and new. I love color and pattern. But more than anything else I love creating a home that reflects who we are as a family. We don’t do formal or perfect. We’re casual and messy and we really live in this house. Does that make sense? Anyhow, enough with the jabber jaw – welcome to my bright and happy entry foyer!
Entry Foyer
During the spring and summer months I love filling those wall vases with pretty blooms. This view from my office makes me smile.
Living Room
I like to keep a cozy vibe in our living room year round, so I don’t really change too much in this space specifically for spring other than to embrace more fresh greens and blooming branches. I really love velvet year round, and I always like having a throw nearby to cuddle up with in here.
I’m a fan of adding plants to my bookshelves and am especially fond of those $3 bunches of eucalyptus from the grocery store this time of year. They smell so great and they look pretty even when they’ve died, uh I mean dried. 😉

Guest Bedroom
While we may have moved away from Kentucky, spring is still a trifecta for our family: Easter, March Madness #gocats and Derby! Since my mother-in-law is coming to stay with us next month, I decided to hang the Derby hat I made last year above the bed in our guest bedroom. It adds a fun, festive touch to this space.
And with that we’ve reached the end of our spring tour! Thank you all so much for stopping by today!
Here’s a source list for anyone interested, and you can always check out the Shop My Style tab up above for more.
