Fresh Bedding Mix For My Girl’s Room

Today I’m participating in a fun bedroom blog hop with a few of my favorite blogging pals!  Since I’m currently in the middle of giving my 11 year old daughter’s bedroom a little refresh, I thought I’d share a few of the fun changes we’ve made so far.

Leopards & Dots & Tassels & Fur!

Kids’ rooms are so fun!  And I love that my daughter is at an age where she really enjoys participating in the design process.  She has lots of ideas and opinions!  So I spend most of my time just reigning her in.  😉

She loves pattern as much as I do, but I decided we should go with a really neutral duvet cover (I actually have this same one on my bed).  The all white with a bold, black border is simple yet chic and makes for a great backdrop for patterned sheets and pillows.

Thanks to Crane and Canopy for providing this gorgeous duvet!  It’s absolutely perfect for my girl’s more grown up space.

Desk As a Nightstand

We pulled out her small nightstand and have decided instead to let her desk work double duty.  This new arrangement makes so much more sense in relation to the space in here, and I don’t know why we didn’t do this sooner.  I plan to paint the desktop but am having trouble deciding on a color.  I’m thinking of going with a bright, tomato red.  Thoughts?

Whimsical Art

The other new addition, that my girl helped me source, is this Fairy Godmother print from one of my favorite artists, Janet Hill.   I love the whimsy it adds to the space.  It feels really fun and youthful but not overly kid centric.

I’m always amazed at the impact a few small changes can make in a space.  A fresh bedding mix is always a great way to revamp a bedroom!

I’ll share more of my girl’s bedroom changes as we make them.  We have just a few more tweaks to make, and I’m hoping to have it all done before summer break starts.

  • I like the desk as is but have you considered something tall on the other side of the bed for balance? Possibly a full length mirror? Or maybe a set of sconce lights on each side with a nightstand on the empty side? Love your color palette and art above bed! And that headboard..all the hearts!

  • Love the bed, My sister and I had one as young girls painted the most beautiful shade of lavender. Your choice of the simple gold frame highlights the print and is perfect in it’s simplicity. a sophisticated room update you can update as she grows. Great.

Because of you I am hooked on Janet Hill, a type of art I never thought i would ever like.

  • Yes, love Janet Hill!

This bed belonged to my girl’s great grandmother, so it has tons of sentimental value as well!

  • I didn’t shoot any wide angle pics of this space because the other side of the bed isn’t finished yet…..but yes, there is something with more height on the other side. I’ll be sharing more soon!

  • I too like the desk as is; coordinates with the black accents. But probably not fun for her. This looks like a decor that would only need tweaks as she ages.

  • All that color is so refreshing Carmel. And the bed really anchors the whole space with that beautiful and warm color. I must say I was delighted to see that cute bunny lamp!! Didn’t expect to see those ears popping out.
