Hello friends! Today I’m participating in the My Home Style Blog Hop: Christmas Tree Edition organized by Stephanie from Casa Watkins Living. If you’re looking for some fresh Christmas decorating ideas, you came to the right place! This blog hop is filled with inspiration and every participating blogger truly has their own unique style! No two trees are the same! So, you might want to refresh your coffee before you get started here today! 😉
Welcome to the new faces here! My name is Carmel; and while my blog is named Our Fifth House, this is actually our seventh. It’s a long story. 😉 But the short version is we just 7 weeks ago moved in to a new home that we had custom built. And so this is our first Christmas here which makes it a really special one.
I always loved putting a tree out on our screen porch at our last house, so I knew I wanted to get this tree set up before I do our living room tree. The perk to Charleston, South Carolina living is that winters aren’t too cold, so we pretty much enjoy being outside year round.
I drew inspiration from the backyard scenery for the decor of this tree, creating a natural, classic, cozy look.
To pick up on the natural color of the furniture out here, I put my collection of corks to use and created a tree garland.
This was the easiest project ever! It was done after one episode of This is Us. 🙂 All you need to recreate this for your tree is a giant pile of wine corks and some floral wire. Then you just wrap and twist! It’s seriously that easy!
* You just want to make sure you twist really tight, so that the corks don’t slip out. If you want to make them even more secure dab a small amount of hot glue on the back where you twist the floral wire, and that should hold them in place really well.
To bring in a cozy vibe I added these leopard faux fur ornaments I found at Target (I couldn’t find them online, but they’re in the store!). Regular readers are surely not surprised to see some leopard print here. #obsessed
Then I added some gold glittered pinecones and white balls and called this natural, classic, cozy Christmas tree done.
I’m loving this classic, cozy Christmas vibe! All I need is some flannel pajamas and Hallmark Christmas movie. 🙂
