While the internet may be a buzz today with nothing but Cyber Monday deals, I’m starting this week off by sharing my new favorite light bulbs. Because they are AMAZING! And I’m full on obsessed. And I can’t believe I forgot to include them in my favorite things post last week! Because these light bulbs are definitely one of my favorite finds of 2019!
You all, I have serious feelings about light bulb temperatures. I pretty much only believe in soft white light (2700-3000K). Although in bathrooms, kitchens, closets and laundry rooms, I do think it’s acceptable to veer slightly into cooler temps, but as an overall general rule of thumb, warm light is the best light, in my opinion. Cool lighting is for garages and hardware stores not your bedroom. This is my truth. 😉
And listen, lighting is everything in a home. And it’s not just about the actual fixture, bulbs totally matter. It’s always amazing to me just how much of a difference simply replacing a cool white or daylight bulb for a warm light bulb will make in a space! It’s immediate coziness.
My husband on the other hand doesn’t care about bulb temperature, at all. He cares only about energy savings, and he wants all of the bulbs in our home to be LED bulbs.
If you’ve ever looked for warm white LED light bulbs you know finding them can be somewhat of a struggle. When we were choosing all of the light fixtures for our new house I spent a fair amount of time buying and testing different types and brands of bulbs. We have tall ceilings and in many spaces replacing bulbs will require busting out a big ladder, so I wanted to make sure to find bulbs with a long life span that I loved in terms of temperature.
Here’s the other thing I’m weird about: In light fixtures where the bulb is exposed, I can’t handle clear glass LED bulbs because you can see the yellow spikes inside them and it drives me bananas. Am I crazy? Don’t answer that. Typically I end up using frosted white LEDs, but that’s not always the best look either depending on the space and fixture.
SO – very long winded story made short – I FINALLY FOUND THE BEST WARM WHITE LED LIGHT BULBS IN ALL THE LAND! And yes, all caps was completely necessary.
These vintage style light bulbs from GE Lighting are legit y’all. They come in either clear glass or amber glass. And the amber glass is perfect for exposed bulb fixtures. The amber color hides the yellow spikes and makes the light even warmer. Insert praise hands as the angels start singing.
I’ve put these bulbs in all over our new home, and I especially love them in our entry foyer. These pictures are actually reading a little cooler than real life. I promise you, they give off the softest, warmest glow at night, as God intended light bulbs to do.
And during the day……
…..you can still see the yellow spikes inside the bulb, but the amber colored glass helps to tame the bright yellow. So it’s not so in your face.
These light bulbs have changed the LED game for the better. This time of year is an especially great time to up the cozy factor in your home, so I wanted to be sure to share this find with you. And hey, call me crazy, but if Santa put some of these light bulbs in my stocking, I wouldn’t be mad about it at all. 😉

We enjoyed spending time visiting with loved ones in Lexington, Kentucky, but I’m happy to be back to warmer temps here in Charleston, South Carolina. So do these light bulbs have a version for a regular lamp? I have two lamps that take 3-way bulbs up to 100w. It’s hard to find a good warm bulb for them.
