Hello friends! I’m almost done decking the halls here at our new house (our seventh house)! And I can’t wait to share more of our Christmas decor next week on the blog. Today I’m giving you a little tour of our new entry foyer.
Welcome!

I’m still on the hunt for a few finishing details for our entry (like a mirror and newel post finials, both of which I’d like to find vintage). There are also a couple of design details I’m mulling over (like whether or not to paint the newel posts black or leave them white – any thoughts?). But I’m taking a break from thinking about all of that to enjoy decorating for the holidays!
That being said I’m keeping things pretty simple this year.

I have a love-hate relationship with garland. I LOVE how it looks; but the mess it makes drives me bonkers. And faux garlands can be such a beast to store, and I’m not really wanting to add more to my Christmas stash right now. So instead I opted for wreaths. They’re simple and easy! My two favorite words around this year. 😉
I used Courtney’s wreath hanging tutorial and hung these up in less than 10 minutes.

I couldn’t resist this little 3 ft fresh cut tree I found at Lowe’s. We’ve done artificial Christmas trees for years now, but I’ve missed having the smell of a fresh tree in the house. This small size was too perfect for this pedestal table!
I used those battery operated lights from my Thanksgiving table decor, and you might recognize the “tree skirt” as it’s the runner from my table.
This little tree gives me major Charlie Brown Christmas vibes, and I totally dig it.

I’m using the striped rug (old from CB2 – this one would work in an entry) that was in my office at our sixth house, and the Minted art from our master bedroom at that house. And I’m loving how these pieces work together in our new foyer.

I hung our custom house portraits here in the upstairs hallway, and I plan to have a larger size (possibly in color) portrait done of the new house to hang in the hallway downstairs. These portraits make such great gifts! The artist that did these isn’t taking any new orders for the rest of the year, but did you know you can order custom house portraits from Minted?!

The trim guys did such a great job bringing my vision for the molding in our vaulted entry foyer to life. I really love the simple, classic feel.

I’m not usually one to choose matching fixtures in a space, but this chandelier feel different enough from the sconces that I don’t mind that they’re from the same collection.

This house has a double front porch, and we wanted every front facing room to have access to step out onto the porch. So instead of windows, we selected doors. Because our foyer is vaulted, these doors are stationary.

I was nervous at first about choosing a full glass panel door, but I really love how much natural light we get in our entry! And our little Elsa is loves that she can watch all the happenings on the street. 😉

Have you finished decorating for the holidays?
I’ve always wanted to try BC! Maybe this is my chance. Rarely comment but I love your design tastes, and your new house is beautiful!
