Hey friends. How are you? I’m hanging in there, and I hope you are too. I’ve been clocking a lot of time in my living room as of late. Reading and netflixing (Tiger King – yikes!), and I realized that I haven’t shared an update on my living room in a while. I think the last I mentioned it here on the blog was when I was debating which console table to bring in to the space. And the new table has been here for almost a month now, so here’s a little progress tour!

I ended up choosing something entirely different than what I was originally leaning toward. And I’m so happy with the console table I ended up purchasing! I love the way the wood talks to the wood mantle. The light wood blends nicely with the back of the sofa, so visually, the console doesn’t take up too much space. Plus the table edge is thick enough to discreetly hide the lamp cord! And the clean lines feel modern, but the light wood keeps it casual and warm. So all in all, I’m really happy with my choice. And now I’m on the hunt for some baskets to place underneath.

I also took advantage of a Ballard Designs sale about 8 weeks ago and ordered a couple of stools that have been on my love list for well over a year.

They’re from the Miles Redd (one of my all time favorite designers) Collection, and I’ve been obsessed ever since I first spotted them in the Ballard catalog. You can customize them, and there are tons of fabric options. I selected this white leopard velvet for a nice solid with good texture, and I can’t love them more!

I mean, those feet are everything!

The subtle pattern keeps them interesting without competing with the other patterns in the space.

And I love their traditional feel mixed with all the modern elements in this space!

So now, the main thing left to do in my living room is to address this big, blank wall. And with extra time on my hands staying at home right now, I’m feeling a DIY art project! I’ve always loved a good high-low mix and incorporating handmade, meaningful items in my spaces. So……..

  • What a great job! I love the stools too. They look perfect for your room. I am wondering how you plug in your light on the console? It is in the middle of the room? You mentioned that the console is thick enough to hide the cord but where do you plug it in? How do you hide the cord? This has been a dilemma with putting a lamp in middle of living room space for me. Thanks for your insight.

  • Love the stools! I can actually say I’m kind of enjoying this slowed down, less obligations pace, at least for now. Greatly missing seeing my dad though!! Not spending much time with the tv. Thankfully we’ve had some beautiful weather (not today!) and have spent lots of time outside. Still some work to finish up out there. And projects inside too! Funny, cause I don’t work now, but for some reason I feel like I have extra time. Hehe
    Stay safe!

  • Love the console and the stools. Gorgeous. This room is so pretty and I love, love, love your kitchen too. Did you get my email about the 2020 Summer Tour?

  • Yes, I think slowing down looks different for all of us. And I think it’s okay to be enjoying it if you are.

  • Hi Joanna!

Thanks so much! We have a floor outlet, so the lamp is plugged in under the sofa. Having a floor outlet put in was at the top of my wish list when we were in the building process!
