I was planning to wait until the rooms in our seventh house were more “finished” before sharing a blog post with all of our home’s paint colors. But our paint colors are something I get asked about so often that I decided to put this post together now rather than wait. So, keep in mind that much of our home is a still a work in progress. Although I am very happy with the paint colors I’ve selected so far!
Last year I shared how I decided on the color palette for our new house. Almost every color I’ve used in our home thus far has come from this collection called ~ The Colors of Historic Charleston ~ by Duron for Sherwin Williams. These colors just all work so well together!
Exterior
- House Color – State Street Pink
- Trim – Charleston White & Hitching Post Black
Entry
- Walls – Sherwin Williams Pure White (flat)
- Trim – Charleston White (semigloss), Hitching Post Black (semigloss)
With our home having an open floor plan, I opted to go with white throughout the main floor. And after testing countless shades of white I settled on Sherwin Williams Pure White, which is a true white with no yellow undertones. It’s almost an exact match to the trim color, Charleston White. Pure White is just a touch warmer.
Kitchen
- Walls – SW Pure White (flat)
- Trim – Charleston White (semigloss)
- Island and Pantry Door – Hurricane Blue (semigloss)
The pantry cabinets and walls are also Hurricane Blue. More on the pantry design is in this post.
Hurricane Blue is a such a pretty shade of blue-grey. With the screen porch being within view of the kitchen, I decided to have the porch ceiling painted the same color as the kitchen island. And it all flows so nicely, especially when the french doors and sliding doors are wide open.
Dining Room & Screen Porch
- Walls – SW Pure White (flat)
- Trim – Charleston White (semigloss)
- Porch Ceiling – Hurricane Blue (semigloss)
Living Room
- Walls – Pure White (flat)
- Trim – Charleston White (semigloss)
You can see more of our living room here.
Office
My husband’s office will likely be the room I tackle for the upcoming One Room Challenge. These gorgeous green walls are such a great jumping off point!
- Walls – Tradd Street Green (flat)
- Trim – Tradd Street Green (semigloss)
Library
- Walls – Hunley (flat)
- Trim – Hunley (semigloss)
Girl’s Room
- Walls – Garden Lake (flat)
More on this mural here.
That’s all I’ve got for now, but I’ll be sure to keep updating this post as more spaces are painted and the rooms in our home are finally finished!
For the exterior did you do flat or satin on the Hardee Board and satin or gloss on the trim? Struggling with that decision for my own home right now. Painters have advised satin on the Hardee Board and semi gloss on the trim, however, none of the SW exteriors offer semi-gloss. Speaking of that which formulation did you use, Emerald, Duration, Resilience, SuperPaint? Thanks for your input.
