A couple of weeks ago on Instagram Stories I shared a tour of my boy’s bathroom and kind of walked through my plan to give the space some personality. As I do in most spaces, I’m starting with an inspiration piece. And in a bathroom space, I think a vintage throw rug makes for a good jumping off point! Here comes Revival for the win! I LOVED the colors and style of this little rug, but I needed it to be just a tad longer. So I layered it over a jute throw rug. And now it’s the perfect size!
Next up was choosing a wallpaper.
And while I liked the idea of a large scale wallpaper in a blue color way, I’m actually really digging these brown stripes.
With all the black and white in this space, I really like how the brown stripes add some warmth. The stripes feel timeless and the brown color-way feels masculine.
It feels really fresh and classic to me. And since this bathroom is a jack-and-jill to the library where there is a separate vanity area that leads into the commode and shower area, I’m thinking of using a totally different pattern in that vanity space. I think it’ll be fun and unexpected to have this floral pattern lead into the stripes, creating a nice feminine/masculine contrast and a fun pattern play.
And again, how good does a little vintage throw rug look in a small bathroom space?! Totally ups the chic factor, right?!
So that’s where I’m at with the decor plan for this bathroom, and I can’t wait to get started! I’m excited to finally be giving this space some pattern, style and most of all, personality!
