So…my girl’s bathroom doesn’t need a major overhaul, but it could definitely use some finishing details. I got started by painting the ceiling (25% lighter than the walls – Garden Lake from the Duron Collection for Sherwin Williams) late last fall, and then I lost steam through the holidays. But now that my shell fireplace project is done, I’m ready to jump back in and give this bathroom a little more personality! My design plans aren’t completely set in stone just yet. I’m a really visual person. So, as much as I appreciate a mood board, nothing really compares to seeing things come together in a space in person. You know? However, I’ve dreamed up a few options that I’m sharing here today. This post is basically a behind the scenes look at my design brain when I’m working on a project. You’re welcome! 😉

Here’s where we’re starting. I love the lighting in here! It’s a hard space to capture on camera because it’s not very large, but there are two pink lanterns that flank the mirror. And I absolutely adore them! They feel classic but whimsical, and that is totally the vibe I’m after in here.
All of the heavy hitters will stay in place, marbled porcelain tile, corian countertop, faucet, and the vanity. But after what really amounts to years of ordering wallpaper samples, I’ve decided to add molding to the walls instead of paper.

Using my very fancy photoshopping skills….(just me or do you also use Instagram Stories to “photoshop” your interiors?)….I started playing with a couple of ideas:
1. What if I keep the walls white and paint all of the molding grey to match the vanity?

I really like the idea of making the window molding more of a moment! But I’m not sure I’m sold on grey.

2. So, what if I paint the vanity and all of the molding a light, muddy blush pink? Again keeping the walls white to really play up the contrast.

This definitely feels more feminine, but does the grey feel more sophisticated? I’m not sure I want it to feel this sweet. Which got me to thinking…

3. What if I paint the vanity pink, and leave the walls and molding white? Keeping the picture frame molding white allows the lantern sconces to take the spotlight.

I really like the simplicity of this look, but I also can’t help but wonder if….

4. Maybe I should keep the vanity grey and do the walls and molding in white?

What are your thoughts? I’m going for a classic, feminine, whimsical vibe. And while I’m excited to start working on the picture frame molding, I can’t wait to see hang these Janet Hill prints in here!
