Main Bedroom Design Plan – Fall 2020 ORC

Well, friends, I’ve decided somewhat last minute to participate in the fall One Room Challenge because it’s officially been a year since we moved into our seventh house, and our bedroom windows are still rocking paper shades. Ugh! I’m soooo ready to give our bedroom a little love. And with the Mr. and I celebrating 20 years of marriage this month, finishing our bedroom feels like the perfect gift…..for me at least. 😉

So, here we go! Fingers crossed I can bring my design plan to life during these six weeks. For any newbies here, the One Room Challenge is the brainchild of Linda from Calling It Home. During this 6-week design challenge, 20 Featured Designers and hundreds of other Guest Participants (like myself) work to makeover a room. It’s a virtual biannual event with Better Homes and Gardens as the media sponsor.

And this past spring I worked on my husband’s office which also functions as our guest bedroom.

And for our bedroom, I’ll be playing with the color green again! But in a slightly more subtle way.

My inspiration for the design of our bedroom is this beautiful marsh view outside our bedroom window.

So my plan is to bring the outside in via color and texture.

I want our bedroom to feel like a special retreat, a space we look forward to ending our day.

In some ways, I’ve gotten a good start on this space. I painted our bed around the holidays last year!

But in other ways, this room has a long way to go, and I really hope I’m able to get it all done in the next 6 weeks!

I’ve got wallpaper, curtain panels, and a gallery wall to knock out…….and the wallpaper isn’t here yet. Plus, I’ll be working on the little hallway that leads to our bedroom as part of this design challenge too. So…….fingers crossed it gets finished in time! But in all honesty, as long as these paper shades are gone by the time this challenge is over, I’ll call this endeavor a success!
