Building a Gallery Wall Around the TV

After years of being on team no tv in the bedroom, I switched sides. It was the Samsung Frame TV that swayed me. After we got one for our living room a few years ago, I started to soften on the idea of having a tv in our bedroom. It looks like a beautiful piece of art when you’re not watching tv, so from an aesthetic standpoint, it really blends in nicely. And I can’t lie, I’ve actually really enjoyed being able to watch movies from the comfort of my bed. But with the ceilings being vaulted in our bedroom, the tv did look a little lost on the wall across from our bed. So I decided to build a gallery wall around the tv, and I just love how this collection makes the tv look even more like a piece of art. It’s truly like a where’s waldo situation now, and I’m not mad about that at all. 😉

I purposefully used mostly framed prints so that the reflection of the tv would blend seamlessly rather than stick out like a soar thumb.

I also decided to take some Rub ‘n Buff in gold leaf to the metal frame around the tv to further drive home that “it’s an art piece, not a tv” feeling. It took me all of maybe 10 minutes (check out my Instagram reel of this quick project), and I really LOVE how it gave the frame a more sophisticated feel.

I’ve shared my best tips for creating a collected gallery wall before, but I think it’s mostly about not overthinking things too much.

  • I do always like to start with by selecting a color palette when displaying a collection of different pieces because I feel like that helps to create a cohesive look.

  • And I tend to prefer more of an eclectic look, so I also use a mix and match approach with regard to frames. But even the frames fit within the established color palette which I think keeps the collection from feeling chaotic.

I’m so happy with the way this gallery wall in our bedroom came together! I used a collection of pieces I’ve had for years, a few recent vintage finds, some architectural photos I’ve taken on special trips (arched wood door photo is from our trip to Positano), treasured handmade pieces by loved ones (those are my baby girl’s 4th-grade kisses *the absolute sweetest piece of art I own* and the floral canvas was painted by mom, as was the pear)……..

and last but not least, I was gifted some gorgeous prints from Urban Garden Prints! Like this peacock that I absolutely loooooove!

And this beautiful butterfly that ties all of the colors represented in this entire collection of art pieces together!

Lastly, this neutral palm print that adds a subtle, barely-there texture and makes all the white mattes in this collection really shine.
