One Room Challenge Fall 2021: Week Seven – Spoonflower Customization

Week seven is here, and this season of the One Room Challenge is rapidly coming to a close. These past few weeks have truly flown by, and I can’t believe there’s just one week left! Fingers crossed I’m able to get everything done in time for the final reveal next week! My Spoonflower order has arrived, and these gorgeous fabrics have me feeling so excited, motivated, and inspired to finish styling the library and attached porch.

Spoonflower is a go-to design resource for me because they make customizing so easy. And you don’t have to be a trade professional or interior designer to have access to all of the available options for customization. I was able to work with the individual fabric designers of the patterns I selected to customize both the color and layout of the fabric patterns I chose.

library color and pattern story

I fell in love with this heriz pattern that compliments the rug, but I wanted a darker blue. So I messaged the fabric designer on Spoonflower to ask if she would be willing to make the adjustment. (Having a color map on hand makes selecting a custom color a breeze!) I just gave her the corresponding color code of the blue I wanted, and she adjusted it for me! It doesn’t get easier! And it’s so nice to be able to adjust a pattern you love to suit your space.

This darker, richer, bolder blue works so much better in the space and plays really well with the blues in the Ming Tiger pattern.

Besides customization, Spoonflower also offers a huge catalog of product options, from wallpaper and throw pillows to curtain panels and blankets.

They even do outdoor fabric! Which is just another reason I opted to work with Spoonflower for my One Room Challenge. I’m using pattern and color to visually link the library and patio. So I’ll be using some repeating patterns inside and outside.

I’m so close to the finish line in these spaces! And the pattern play has me feeling so motivated!

What is the One Room Challenge?!

The ORC is an online interior design event, organized by Linda Weinstein, where 20 Featured Designers and hundreds of other Guest Participants transform a room of their choice in just 8 weeks. With Better Homes & Gardens as the media sponsor, this biannual challenge is always brimming with design inspiration. Not only does this event inspire and motivate, but it also creates a supportive creative community.  I’m always blown away by the spaces created each season, so it’s an absolute honor to be counted as a Featured Designer this fall!
